7-Minute Recipe: Healthy Shiitake Sautéed Mushrooms


Shiitake mushrooms are a popular culinary mushroom which is used in dishes. Healthy Sautéed Shiitake Mushrooms

Ingredients
Calories: 212 per serving | Number of Serving: 2
1 canned sliced shiitake mushrooms (ideally organic)
3 Tbsp. low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: 2 Tbsp. each of fresh rosemary, oregano, or feta cheese

Procedure
1. Chop garlic and let sit for 5 minutes to enhance its health-promoting properties.
2. Remove stems from mushrooms and slice.
3. Heat broth in a stainless steel skillet. When broth begins to steam, add mushrooms and cover for 3 minutes.
4. Remove skillet cover and let mushrooms cook for 4 more minutes.
5. Toss with olive oil and season with salt and pepper and whatever optional ingredients desired.

How to cook with canned mushroom

The rich texture of canned mushrooms makes them a good meat substitute in vegetarian recipes. Canned mushrooms are also convenient and inexpensive. Using Canned Mushroom adds some fiber and other valuable nutrients to your diet -- including Magnesium, Iron and vitamin B-complex – also to your favorite recipes. Now the following steps will show you how to cook with canned mushrooms:

Canned mushrooms 
 Can opener
Small colander
Cutting board
Sharp knife
Fresh parsley
Olive oil
Small sauté pan            


Step 1: Open your can of Canned Shiitake Mushrooms using a can opener.

Step 2: Pour the contents of the can into a small colander. Rinse with cool water.

Step 3: Drain the mushrooms for two to three minutes, or until all of the juice has drained out.

Step 4: Chop the mushrooms into bite-sized pieces, if necessary.

Step 5: Add the drained mushrooms to your recipes like in your favorite pasta sauce, soup, stew or casserole recipe. Spoon some canned mushrooms onto a grilled cheese sandwich or meatball hoagie. Spread some on top of a hamburger or add to a grilled hot dog. Add some canned mushrooms to grilled meats or roasted chicken. You can even sprinkle some over a tossed green salad.

Step 6: Sauté the mushrooms in a small amount of olive oil for two to three minutes as an alternate way to cook with canned mushrooms. Serve them as a nutritious side dish sprinkled with fresh parsley.
